These Trees

I stand beneath these trees
The wind does blow upon the leaves
Colors abounding to the ground
With not much noise and little sound
The wind is cold upon my face
A stinging chill does displace
The warmth within the blood provide
That boils deep the heart inside
This engine pumps the warmth around
To fingers and toes and skin abound
Someday this heart will pump no more
When I'm embraced on eternal shore
Until that day I'll stand right here
Beneath these trees without much fear
For life has rooted me in this place
A forest of love upon my face
No bark can keep me hid inside
For roots go deep as I do glide
Upon the wind and sun and heat
For shade trees give to cool me feet
So I do stand beside this tree
For winter is coming again this year
